U.S. Mint Will Release Gettysburg Address Commemorative Quarter
As part of the 250th Anniversary (or Semiquincentennial) of the United States, the U.S. Mint will issue quarters with five commemorative designs over the course of 2026. These are circulating coins, reminiscent of the commemorative quarters issued during the Bicentennial in 1976, and not non circulating collector’s items. Four of the designs commemorate the colonial era and founding of the nation: the Mayflower Compact, Revolutionary War, Declaration of Independence, and U.S. Constitution—while the fifth quarter commemorates the Gettysburg Address.
The Gettysburg Address Quarter has a portrait of Abraham Lincoln on the front, with” E Pluribus Unum” along the top and “In God We Trust 1776-2026” along the bottom. The back has two hands clasping with “United States of America” along the top and “Gettysburg Address” along the bottom. “A New Nation Conceived in Liberty” is engraved above the clasping hands. This quarter will be issued by both the Denver and Philadelphia U.S. Mints. These five quarters will be put in circulation throughout the year, with the Gettysburg quarter slated to be released in the Fall of 2026.
