U.S. Mint to Release Ulysses S. Grant Presidential Silver Medal

As part of its ongoing Presidential Silver Medal Series, the U.S. Mint will release for sale the Ulysess S. Grant commemorative medal on October 2nd, 2023. These medals are one troy ounce of 99.9% silver and are collector’s items and not a circulating currency. The mint is releasing four of these per year. The cost is $75 each.

The front of the medal has a side view of the 18th president, while the back has the inauguration dates for his two terms.

Grant, whose victories on the battlefield led to his promotion as the highest ranking general in the Union Army in 1864, served as president from March 4th, 1869 to March 4th, 1877. He has appeared on many currencies and commemorative medals over the years, most recently with a $1 circulating coin issued in 2011 as part of another presidential series. His portrait has been on the $50 bill since 1914.
